Here’s the thing: I definitely get a gay vibe from Bradley Cooper, and that may influence how I’m reading this. Now, it’s totally possible that Bradley isn’t gay, that he’s totally enamored with The Zellweger, that he’s secretly the butchest dude that ever lived. But that’s not how he seems, is it? When I watched Bradley in the trailer for The A-Team, it just seemed like he was so woefully miscast as this would-be action hero, a little effete pipsqueak trying to play with the big guns and Liam Neeson. That’s not to say I think Bradley is untalented as an actor – I think he’s got chops, but I’m never going to buy him as The Hero, you know? He’s the actor you hire when you need someone who can talk his way through tricky dialogue, not when you need someone who can sufficiently grunt after blowing something up.

Anyway, after seeing The A-Team trailer, and watching this hilarious clip in which Bradley tries to talk to a naked man without asking the guy to join him in a public toilet, the gay vibe has been particularly strong this week. Then I came across Bradley’s recent comments to The Independent (via Digital Spy and D-listed) that he thought it was “fantastic” that people think he’s gay. Even more fantastic? That persistent rumor about Bradley and Victor Garber:

Bradley Cooper has said that it was “fantastic” that people thought he was gay.

The Hangover star, who has been dating actress Renee Zellweger for several months, has insisted that he was amazed at what was written in the tabloids about him and actor friend Victor Garber after attending an event together.

Speaking to The Independent, the 34-year-old said: “People thought we were dating. It was all over the internet. It was the first time I read a rumor like that about me, and I just thought it was fantastic.”

Cooper also admitted that he never fit into any specific high school clique while growing up.

He added: “I wasn’t the smartest person in school, I wasn’t the coolest kid. I really didn’t have anything going on.”

“I was fascinated by those sports jocks because they were so obviously a**eholes and didn’t hide that fact. But they somehow had this power, that the rules of the universe didn’t apply to them.”

[From Digital Spy]

Okay, I’ll buy that Bradley was never one of the jocks, and that simple fact made him more sensitive. But notice how Bradley didn’t really deny the gay rumor? Maybe he thinks it’s not worth the time and energy it takes to deny (he’s probably right). Maybe he thinks that if he denies it, he’ll seem like he thinks there’s something wrong with being gay (which there isn’t). Maybe he needs a better publicist (yes, he does). Maybe he and Victor need to go away on a soul-searching vacation.

Here’s the clip, via Seriously? OMG! WTF?, of Bradley’s appearance on a Globe Trekker episode. Watch Bradley checking out the naked dude (NSFW):
