The 2024 Royal Rumble occurred this evening at Tropicana Field in Florida. This event is eagerly awaited by WWE fans annually, as it marks the beginning of the journey to WrestleMania.
As with previous years, the highlight of this year’s show was the pair of Royal Rumble matches: one for male participants and one for female participants. These two contests have consistently been the most unpredictable in WWE history, making it challenging to predict the eventual winners.
Last year, it was Cody Rhodes who the men’s Royal Rumble match and he was looking to win back-to-back Rumbles tonight. Another big name entering the Rumble was CM Punk. Coincidentally, the last televised Punk had was a Royal Rumble match.
The men’s Royal Rumble match concluded the show. The match had its fair share of surprises as Jey and Jimmy Uso kickstarted the match. Another surprise was the return of Andrade who entered at number four.
Jey Uso was the most impressive in the match as he lasted 50 minutes before he was eliminated by Gunther. In the end, it came down to CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. After a back-and-forth contest, Rhodes eliminated Punk to win the Royal Rumble match for the second time.
After the win. Cody pointed toward Roman Reigns who was in the box office seats indicating that he had already chosen the champion he wants to face at WrestleMania 40.
With this win, Cody Rhodes has cemented his legacy in the history books of WWE and punched his ticket to WrestleMania. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you more stories from the Royal Rumble.
