As we reported on earlier this week, both Ringo Starr and Bruce Springsteen made the decision to cancel their North Carolina shows in an effort to fight against the “bathroom bill”, or HB2.

The bill directly discriminates against those of the transgendered community, along with individuals who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, and queer. Now, Cyndi Lauper has come up with her own way to repeal the law.

Although Lauper is still planning to hold her upcoming show in Raleigh, North Carolina, she announced on her website that all proceeds from it will go directly to the fight against HB2.

“The best way I know how to make a difference is what I have strived to do my whole life and that is show up for my family, friends, and fans in the LGBT community. So, for that reason I think the best way I can do my part is to turn my show in Raleigh on June 4th into an entire day to build public support to repeal HB2.”

The money collected will be donated to Equality North Carolina, a charity that looks to obtain equal rights for all of those who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and queer. Comedian Joel McHale held a show in the state recently and donated his profits to the the LGBT Center of Durham, North Carolina.

Lauper founded her own charity, the True Colors Fund, which works to educate homeless LGBTQ youth, so this issue hits close to home for her.

Cirque De Soleil has also cancelled their performance in North Carolina, adding onto the growing list of people who are using their fame to stand up for the LGBTQ community.
