He has recalled that the household he grew up in was really creative and as his parents were always working, there were always endless projects around his house.Eddie has stated that he grew up in a household with countless instruments and naturally began playing the guitar when he was about 12 years old. However, he had disliked playing it. Eddie was around pianos, banjos, drums and understood how they were meant to sound and how they had to be played. He was on bass quite exclusively until he was 13 years old, after which he began picking up the other instruments. Eddie had built some solid techniques on them and he listened to a variety of music that utilized all of the various styles as well as the instruments. He has affirmed that he would thoroughly enjoy utilizing it with his ear and practice.He has disclosed that he had seen Prince performing live by going to one of his concerts that he has felt very blessed to have done. It was when he saw him slapping the bass that he had decided that was what he wanted to do, following which Eddie had requested his father for the instrument. His father had fulfilled his wish by buying him one, after which he was in the living room every day, just practicing for hours on end.
