The character James Tate was last seen in Emmerdale as a toddler in 1999. Now the character is set to return to the village, in which he will be portrayed by an actor called Alexander Lincoln.

James Tate will be returning to the village as a hunky vet. This is most likely linked to the storyline where Kim has offered to buy a 50% share of the local vets. However, it appears Kim wants more than just half of it.

Kim would most likely want to get James a job at the veterinary practice, in order to reconcile her relationship with her son, which will be easy if she owns half, or all, of the business. This leaves us with the question, will we be seeing a more loving side to Kim Tate?

On their official Twitter, Emmerdale stated “Welcome home…” with a picture of the new cast member, along with ‘#JamieTate’

The role of James Tate will be Alexander’s first major television role. When James returns to Emmerdale, will Kim use him to get revenge on the Dingles?

We are looking forward to seeing what Alexander has to offer as a member of the Emmerdale cast. As well as this, we are hoping that the storyline could potentially pave the way for a explosive Joe Tate return in the future.

At the moment, it appears that Emmerdale have left it open for Ned Porteous to return as Joe Tate and Claire King, the star who plays Kim Tate, has stated that she wants an ‘explosive’ Joe Tate return. We certainly hope that he does return to Emmerdale at some point as it would be really nice to see some scenes that include both James and Joe Tate.
