Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, Joe Harris, LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin will have to watch the rest of the NBA playoffs on TV, with the Brooklyn Nets having been eliminated by the Boston Celtics without taking a single game. After losing Game Four by a scoreline of 116-112, the Nets were sent packing and the franchise has been widely ridiculed on social media.
When the Nets brought together Durant, Irving and James Harden, it was expected that they'd soon taste success thanks to this 'Big Three'. But, after reaching the Eastern Conference semis last year, and losing by a toe's width to the eventual champions Milwaukee, the 2021/22 season has been a disaster.
Harden is gone and Simmons is there in his place, although his failure to take part in Game Four has already outraged the fanbase. Meanwhile, Irving missed so many games because of his refusal to get vaccinated. An injury to Durant then saw the Nets embark on a losing run that left them having to go through the play-in tournament, before being swept by Boston.
No regrets for Kevin Durant
Despite this failure and the frustrating season he had to endure, Kevin Durant doesn't regret leaving Golden State to move to the Barclays Centre.
"I have no regrets, s**t happens," Durant said after the elimination.
"No crying over spilled milk. It's about how we can progress and get better from here."
Many, however, do believe that Durant made the wrong decision when he decided to move on from the winning machine that was the Golden State Warriors. Some have taken delight in his failure over these past two seasons and have made the 33-year-old the subject of various memes.
